About

I was born in Northern California and raised in Southern California. My interest in blending and harmonizing colors began around age 7 when I was given a book entitled "The Pop-Up Color Book" by Albert G. Miller. That interest has grown with me into and throughout my adulthood.

In 2013, I was looking to join a small fellowship group at my church that met on Saturdays. There weren't many to choose from. I ended up joining a group called "Knit, Crochet, and Pray" thinking, "I don't know how to knit or crochet, but at least I can pray!" I found some wonderful friends there and entered the world of the fiber arts.

I learned conventional knitting, crochet, weaving on a rigid heddle loom, and circular knitting with a knitting machine. In January 2021, I picked up French (spool) knitting . Making cords with a spool knitter was fun, but I didn't know what to do with the cords I was producing. Then I got the idea that they could be turned into jewelry. As I was researching this possibility, I discovered braiding as a fiber art.

Braiding quickly became my favorite thing to do with yarn. I learned to make several kinds of braid structures. I like the spiral (the technical name is the "round" braid) most because this braid structure works beautifully with beads to make jewelry. A plain braid can also be made into a bracelet without beads. In June 2022, I started to make simple earrings from seed beads to go with the braided jewelry or that could be worn alone.

It is a joy to explore combinations of colors and textures. The possibilities seem endless. I keep getting new ideas faster than I can braid them.

I hope you enjoy wearing my braids as much as I enjoy making them.
